Divetek Stream Aluminium Backplate Red
The Divetek Stream Aluminium Backplate Red is under the Backplates, Wings and Harnesses category and is available at our Dive Shop. For more info on this item of Dive Gear, please see below:
- An aluminium backplate is ideal for travelling as it weighs less that 1kg while keeping the style of a traditional backplate.
- If you’re diving twins or single cylinders and don’t need a great deal of trim weight or you travel often so need to reduce the weight of your system then an aluminium backplate is a great option.
- Aluminium won’t add very much weight to your system so is a great lightweight alternative to steel if you’re not wearing a buoyant wetsuit or drysuit.
- Aluminium also makes your harness setup less negatively buoyant, making it easier to achieve neutral buoyancy on the dive.
- The lower spine slot improves the compatibility so you can fit most wings to this backplate either for single or twin cylinders.
- Backplates require a harness and a wing and it’s usually best to keep the same brand running through so we recommend the Divetek 30lb donut wing – https://divetek.co.za/product/divetek-30lb-donut-wing/
- Weight 0.49kg
- Spine grommet Distance from Top of backplate:
- 15mm
- 33mm
- 50mm
- 295-347mm
Backplates, Wings and Harnesses:
A backplate and wing BC configuration generally come in two pieces – the backplate (stainless or aluminium) and the wing. Sometimes the harness can also be a separate piece.
The whole purpose of moving to a diving BC like this is to make it easy to adapt to different types of diving such as twin set and/or single cylinder diving. The system is fundamentally simple and easy to use.
The wing provides the lift, the backplate and harness secure everything together as well as to the cylinder and to you. Your harness can be a one piece harness or one with quick release buckles.
Wings are available in many different lift capacities that are generally described in pounds (lbs of lift)
Lastly the backplates are available in stainless steel or aluminium. Choosing between the two is all about weighting. A stainless back plate weighs in at around 2.2kgs more than its aluminium counterpart.
We carry a large variety of Backplates, Wings and Harnesses.
